I have read a lot of books, but it's hard to find novel these days that I can really get into. There are some books like "Gone" where I could just eat it up. Then there are other books, like Twilight, where I just want to eat it up so it will get out of my sight. This is my list of 5 books that I consider either a good meal or a bad meal.
1. Gone - This book is about everyone above the age of 15 disappearing, leaving the kids to fend for themselves. This book is so unreal, it satisfies my craving for the bizarre. I feel like I'm actually in the the book, and it affects me mentally. I'm always thinking of new ways to survive while reading it, as if I'm close to starvation or death by mutiny. The characters are also easy to identify with, which makes it a good read.
2. Harry Potter - Of course, an instant classic. It was one of the first books I ever read and got into. I remember fondly of the days that I wish I would get magical powers and help to thwart evil warlocks with my stick wand I found in the front yard. I also remember being very disappointed by the fact that I did not get a letter inviting my to Hogwarts on my 11th birthday. I got so into this book that it impacted me greatly in my childhood. Whenever I need a dash of nostalgia in my life, these are good books to read.
3. No Time Left For Goodbye - I also enjoy so mystery in my meals. Sometimes I don't know what I'm going to get with mysteries, but for this particular book, I got a pleasant surprise. What would happen if you woke up one morning and your whole family was gone? Everyone is a suspect... Even yourself! This book keeps you guessing right to the very end, and it is a sensational read. It satisfies any craving for reading I might have. In fact, I think I'll read it again when I get home.
4. Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging - This book is good for the funny bone. If I'm ever feeling down, this is the kind of book I would pick up. It's impossible to read a few lines without laughing out loud. The story follows the misadventures of a British teenage girl through her diary entries. It is very clever, and great for a day where you think "It can't get any worse."
5. Twilight - The above books mentioned are examples of good meals. This book, however, gave me food poisoning. There was so much romantic cheese in it, I'm surprised I did not get an artery clog. It was just so distasteful, I couldn't even stomach it. I ended up reading it all up, just so I could insult what a bad meal it was at the end. Definitely not a good meal, because I would just throw it up afterwards.
So for the most part, I pick pretty good books to eat. There are others, unfortunately COUGHCOUGHTWILIGHTCOUGH that just don't agree with my digestive system.
